SAFETY HUB
Online Dating Safety Hub
Most people who use dating platforms have good experiences, and a few habits make them safer. Use this checklist before you register, while you chat and before your first meeting.
Before you register
- Check the company details, privacy policy and how to contact support.
- Use a unique password and enable two-step verification when offered.
- Choose photos and profile details that do not reveal your address or workplace.
While you chat
- Keep early conversations on the platform.
- Ask for a live video call before you invest emotionally.
- Never send money, gift cards or intimate images.
- Be careful with anyone who talks about crypto or investments.
Before your first meeting
Meet in a public place, tell a friend where you will be and arrange your own transport. Trust your instincts and leave if something feels wrong.
If something goes wrong
Stop contact, keep screenshots, report the profile to the platform and contact your bank if you sent money. Report fraud to your national service, such as the FTC in the United States or Action Fraud in the UK. It is not your fault.
